Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher thanks Bohuslav Martinů for his letter of 22 November. He is glad that BM agrees with his proposal to combine EPOS ON GILGAMES with the works of Igor Stravinsky. It is now crucial to find a publisher for this work. It always takes a long time to get material from a publisher. This time it will probably be necessary to check the German version that PS had made, which may lead to further negotiations between the publisher and the translator. Both Schott and Universal Edition would be ideal.
When BM faces such difficulties with ASCAP, he should contact directly Adolf Streuli, director of SUISA (PS gives a Zurich address). AS has already told Sacher that SUISA would accept the addressee as a member, whether he settled in Europe or stayed in the US.
It is not yet snowing in Schönenberg, but it is cold.
PS [and Maja Sacher] were at Arthur Honegger's funeral in Paris the previous week.
PS wishes the addressee a happy birthday and also greets Charlotte Martinů.
