Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher thanks Bohuslav Martinů for his letter. He himself is also very busy and often travels abroad on tour. However, he and Maja Sacher are doing well.
PS talked about JULIETTA with Conrad Beck. They agreed that the addressee's idea [that PS should request orchestral material from the National Theatre in Prague for BM, see Sac 1951-04-16] would cause difficulties. Conrad Beck would agree to a radio performance of the opera if it was adapted, and PS would be happy to conduct it. Even then, however, the borrowed material would have to be returned and Basel Radio could not transmit it to the addressee without permission from Prague.
As PS understands, BM owns the orchestral score. PS suggested that he should have the work published, for example by Boosey & Hawkes or Schott.
PS and MS salute the addressee and Charlotte Martinů.
