Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher thanks Bohuslav Martinů for his letter of 25 October and for the enclosed photographs.
He was very surprised to receive a piano excerpt of JULIETTA with the composer's dedication from Melantrich. PS does not understand how BM could have written a dedication on the copy that came to him from Prague. BM must have written it in Paris before sending the music to Prague. It is a pity that PS does not speak Czech. Isn't there a piano extract with German text?
Sacher is reluctant to lend [Musikkolegie Winterthur] his material for the Concerto for Violin and Strings [CONCERT FOR VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA No. 2]. The Musikkollegium Winterthur has already received another Violin Concerto. PS has seen a piano excerpt of it published in Melantrich with copyright 1948; it includes the composer's excerpts of the first bars of each movement. When did BM write the piece?
PS and Maja Sacher greet the addressee and Charlotte Martinů.
