Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů apologises to Paul Sacher for the delayed reply, he mentions his health problems.
He has made all arrangements with Boosey & Hawkes publishers, they sent Sacher the material [TOCCATY E DUE CANZONI] at the beginning of the month, hopefully he will get it in time. Has he got the PS parts of the second and third movements of this song yet?
Unfortunately BM will not be able to travel to Europe to attend the premiere [Jan 21, 1947]. He will not be able to come until spring at the earliest.
He promises Sacher that he will also send him the requested article [on TOCCATA E DUE CANZIONI] in a few days; he has been unable to do anything in the last week.
He thanks him for the generous fee (5000 Swiss francs). this would be a sufficient sum even for a symphony. BM will therefore include in the fee some future work he will write for PS. PS is to keep the money for now, BM will need it in Europe.
BM sends his regards to Maja Sacher.
