Content and physical description
ContentOn 4 September Paul Sacher received a letter from Bohuslav Martinů dated 20 August. He is glad that the violin concerto [CONCERTO DA CAMERA] is finished. He has noted all the addressee's instructions and is waiting impatiently for the delivery of the work.
In Switzerland, BM has not been forgotten: the memory of the DOUBLE CONCERT, which premiered there, is still vivid. Ernest Ansermet has reintroduced the work in his programme and PS plans to perform it in Zurich.
PS hopes that the score of CONCERTA DA CAMERA will reach him in time and in good order via Victor Nef. He will be sure to confirm its receipt to the addressee.
He will have a copy of the material made in Basel. It will be better not to wait for the outcome of BM's negotiations with [Ralph?] Hawkes.
PS is pleased that BM wants to dedicate the work to his orchestra, the Basler Kammerorchester. He suggests specific wording for the dedication.
He will send payment to the composer as soon as possible. Is BM in touch with a particular bank? If not, PS will have to send a check to any bank in New York.
PS will have BKO's annual report and upcoming season's program sent to the addressee.
He is glad that BM is getting some rest in Edgartown. Hopefully he will get a more up to date report from him soon.
He will be pleased if the addressee can find a text suitable for a cantata.
He and Maja Sacher extend their greetings to the addressee and to Charlotte Martinů.
