Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher gives an overview of his recent correspondence with Bohuslav Martinů.
He regrets that the addressee was not able to work on the violin concerto [CONCERTO DA CAMERA]. He understands his situation. However, he is counting on the concerto, has already included it in his programme and the premiere is set for 23 January.
PS reminds him to contact Victor Nef at the Swiss Consulate and ask him to send the manuscript to Switzerland by diplomatic pouch. PS quotes a telegram he sent to the addressee on the same day (see Sac 1941-07-02).
No wonder BM receives little news from Europe. Communication is difficult - many letters are lost, air mail travels for two weeks and ordinary writing for three months.
PS advises the addressee how he can dispose of the remaining amount from Morgan's bank. He himself wrote to the bank on 7 Feb to stop the payments. They acknowledged receipt on 12 Feb so he does not know if another payment has gone out.
PS urges the addressee to contact Ernst Krenek, a good friend of PS. He gives his address.
Nelly Louise Frey wrote to PS saying she had received BM's letter and had replied to it. BM has apparently received the letter in the meantime.
PS is not angry that BM has not yet written the violin concerto [CONCERTO DA CAMERA]. However, he expects the score in August or September.
PS and Maja Sacher send their regards to BM and Charlotte Martinů.
