Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks Paul and Maja Sacher for their advice and news. Today he sent a telegram to the addressees asking them to book his boat tickets for 23 January. He also asks them to ask the office to confirm the booking.
He regrets causing complications for the addressees, but they [with ChM] did what they could.
They expect their exit visas any day now and have already been promised a transit visa for Spain. After these matters have been settled, they will go immediately to Lisbon and wait there.
I am sure they will be well received. BM's arrival is eagerly awaited in music circles.
BM thanks Max Klein for contacting him, he has also written to him. BM himself knows influential people in [Madrid].
He regrets that he will miss the Christmas boat, but for time reasons it is better to leave on 23 Jan and book this (or another) date immediately. It is a pity they cannot take boxes for [Nelly Louise and] Jean Rudolph Frey. BM promises to write to them as soon as they arrive.
BM does not yet know how things stand with Universal Edition and Louis Wauthier [regarding the manuscript score of CONCERTA GROSSA]. BM sent Sacher the material. He regrets that UE did not entrust him with everything, otherwise he could have had the piece performed in the US.
BM is still working but it is difficult with all the distractions and the cold. But after the experience of the last few months there is little to stop him working.
BM will save the work on the cantata for quieter times, hopefully soon.
He asks PS to keep the CONCERT FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA [No. 2] with him.
