Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks Paul Sacher for his letters and apologises for the delayed reply. He is glad that he and the PS have agreed on a date for the concert [for radio, which will include a DOUBLE CONCERT]. The AMC committee agrees to Sacher's terms. Difficulties might arise with the number of rehearsals and with the orchestra [BCO], but the committee will do its best. They are called Association pour la musique contemporaine (AMC), not Triton.
The concert will be advertised in the newspapers and at previous concerts. The PS will have the income from the concert to cover the orchestra's expenses if necessary; the soloists are paid by [SACEM]. Hopes that PS owns the piano recital [of the violin concerto] by Henri Martelli.
PS is to set a detailed rehearsal schedule. BM thinks the orchestra is good (they have already played works by Igor Stravinsky) and that the 8 rehearsals will not be necessary. This is the third concert by AMC, which already has an audience. BM asks the addressee for a list of people to whom an invitation will need to be sent. They will advertise the concert in advance, BM will alert the Czechs. They will also send invitations to the Triton audience.
BM lists the cast of the HM's benefit concert.
Confirms receipt of the manuscript score of CONCERTA GROSSA. He wrote to Universal Edition in January but did not receive a reply. They are not interested in keeping it because BM's compositions are banned in Austria. (Manuscript note: "Schott?") Best to write to UE to have everything sent to someone, such as Mr. Deutsch [Paul Deutsch?]. BM would be happy if everything could be arranged so that he could keep the score. PS could write to UE saying that BM needs the score for Charles Munch.
BM encloses a letter to Polička for Maria Martinů.
