Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů sends repairs to the piano lift [ŠPALÍČK]. He complains that he cannot proofread the work properly without the manuscript; he does not remember many things, especially the motivation for the changes in the scenes. He criticises the inadequacy of the texts - the description of the scenes and the depiction of the plot. He thinks this will need to be added to so that the ambiguity of the content is not a barrier to staging, especially if the work and content are not known from an earlier production. Also, the numbers will need to be completed according to the score. If the necessary figures are not in the piano extract or BM score, Karel Šebánek is to ask the ballet master [?] to complete them. He doesn't know why KS needs his permission (he doesn't state why), but BM sends it to him. Someone must check the piano lift against the original, preferably Karel Šolc. BM found some mistakes that were obvious but he is not sure about them. BM asks for an early response from KS to queries about the dedications [SMITH QUARTET No. 6 and CONCERTO FOR MUSIC AND ORCHESTRA No. 2] and Boosey & Hawkes.
