Content and physical description
ContentThis is a text where GN recalls his collaboration with Martinů, their first meeting at Šafránek's. Before that, Milhaud had told him about BM as a great composer. He describes his appearance, his Slavicness. He tells about the course of BM's work on Juliet. He writes about another meeting with him: towards the end of 1940 they met in Aix-en-Provence, and even though BM was filled with wartime worries, he composed a lullaby for his newborn daughter. BM also collaborated with him on the opera Ariadne. Here GN quotes a letter from BM in which he states that he 'made an oratorio out of the play The Way of Theseus'.
