Content and physical description
ContentHe apologizes for not being able to come to Zurich immediately after arriving from Paris, but he has fallen ill and is confined to Schönenberg. He is sorry because he wanted to know what was the matter with the opera. He has had no news from Herr Schlee, who is probably waiting to see how he (and Erismann) can agree on changes at the opera. He hopes that in two or three weeks they will be able to come to Zurich. He would like to know in advance about Mr Krahl's ideas about the repairs so that he can prepare for them. He is not sorry for the character of the Commentator, but would like to know other objections. As he knows, the author of the novel will be absent from the premiere. The news of his death has hit Martin very hard. He would like to meet them. He tells the Webers that work on the piano concerto has been delayed by illness.
