| Content | Bohuslav Martinů regrets that he could not come to Austria this year, but because of the strikes in France he was unable to travel. He is now in Nice and will stay here over the winter, so perhaps they will meet.
If Alfred Schlee has accepted the CONCERTO DA CAMERA FOR PIANO AND SMITH ORCHESTRA WITH PIANO AND PERcussion instruments, BM wants to ask him to make changes in the piano part, which is too strong in the places where the soloist plays. Someone could look at it and suggest changes, BM will accept them without any problem.
He also has some pieces that have been released by Boosey & Hawkes. If AS is interested, he should ask for the tracks. |

Dear Mr. Schlee:
I think you are back in Vienna by this time and I hope you enjoyed your stay during your vacation. I am still sorry I couldn’t come to Austria this year, but as you probably know, we had a strike of almost everything in France, so I couldn’t move and I stayed in a little village near Paris and I had a nice lazy time. Now I am in Nice and am sending you my adresse, as I will stay the whole year in Europe and over the winter in Nice we shall certainly find a opportunity to see each other, which I would be very glad to. I would like to ask you something if you decide to take Concerto da Camera. There is a part of piano which I think is in some parts heavy (when the soloist is playing) and unnecessary, I would take it out. Somebody eventually could look it through, I would accept any suggestion. There are some more compositions which were reliesed [sic] by Boosey and Hawkes, if you are interested, tell me.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincery yours
B. Martinu
