Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů apologises for his belated reply – he was working on a film [MARIJKA THE UNFAITHFUL]; he hopes to return to Paris at the beginning of January. He did not see Mr. George Széll after his return to Paris either. He does not understand why it [CONCERTO FOR VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA NO. 1] should sound bad on the piano and is really curious about the piano score. Should the addressee, however, be of the opinion that it cannot remain as it is, it will be necessary to remake at least the first part. And what is really unpleasant is the fact that the concerto was renounced in Prague. The concerto has been talked about a lot and was awaited with curiosity. This will not be beneficial for GS either, since Prague Radio was interested in the concerto right from the first announcement – it was planned to be broadcast within a cycle of international concerts, very well paid. Should the premiere of the writer’s concerto not take place, the radio will certainly give up its intention, which will result in a great loss for GS.
