Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů should not be distressed by the problems with the Copyright Protection Association in Prague (OSA). They themselves are members of the German company GEMA, which automatically assumes the division of performing rights in the ratio of 2/3 to the composer, 1/3 to the publisher, probably something similar to a French, and also Czech, company. They did not know which company he belonged to and assumed that administration of these rights is automatically secured by GEMA. But if he is a member of OSA, they will do the accounting. He should reassure the gentlemen and tell them that because of the holidays they will only receive the reply in about 8 days so that ]Willi Strecker] can take his bearings in the issue and give him advice as to what to do.
He has written to Pro Arte Quartet, yet has not yet received any reply. Does the Quartet possess any orchestral material? The CONCERTO FOR STRING QUARTET AND ORCH.´score and parts will be ready next week and they will send him the corrections. They hope that it will be possible to have the CONCERTO FOR VLC AND ORCH. NO. 1 performed with Gaspar Cassadó in Amsterdam and Prague.
