Content and physical description
ContentThe score of his symphony has arrived, as has the score of the CONCERTO FOR STRING QUARTET AND ORCH., from Brussels. They really like both works, especially the string quartet, an apex of his oeuvre. As regards the symphony, they would perhaps suggest, for practical reasons, that he change the title to “SINFONIA CONCERTANTE”, since, at least in Germany, the title “symphony” is synonymous with heavy late-Romantic music and thus the title “symphony” could get in the way of understanding the work. They solve the business matters. He is pleased that the addressee will be preparing a concerto with Dushkin and is really curious about the result. The RHYTMIC ETUDES have already begun to be set.
