Content and physical description
ContentYesterday he received the score of the Rhapsody; this morning he spoke to Kleiber, who has, however, already concluded "his programme for America", so that the Rhapsody is out of the question; Kleiber asked him to let the score lie until the autumn and then to speak to him again about it; the state of Kroll's opera is so uncertain that Klemperer "does not want to make any dispositions at all and has unfortunately sent me back 'Bagarre'"; Klemperer is said to be very cranky and 'nothing can be done about it in the near future'; he regrets having to give such bad news; meanwhile the third act of the Three Wishes has arrived; he has written to the General Intendancy (in Dresden) to ask if he should send them the score; if he receives a reply by 'Friday' he will write; otherwise he is leaving and will not return until the second half of August; he will send Hänel a book of poems by post; he wishes to remain optimistic about Berlin.
