ContentVladimír Vaněk received Charlotte Martinů's letter of 13 August from Pesaro very late. They [with the family] are permanently on the island of Ischia (near Naples), where VV is building another thermal resort. He has not had a day off for two years and they have not been in Grosseto for the same length of time. They are still travelling. VV is exhausted, especially since it has been hot for four months.
He thanks Charlotte on the news. Miloš Šafránek's book was given to him by Václav Hanno Jarka. MŠ tells everything inaccurately. Bohuslav Martinů lived with VV in Paris during the hard times and VV took care of him. It was about taking financial contributions from Prague, organizing premieres, concerts, introducing BM to the music world. VV is also proud of the inspiration he was able to provide to the composer - for example for the EPOS ON GILGAMEŠ. But MS knows none of this and only writes that VV was a puppet actor.
Unfortunately VV will not be able to attend the performance of GREEK PASSIONS in Perugia. He will be very busy.
He will write to Bedřich Janáček about the composition for organ [VIGILIA]. He has not heard from him for a long time. [Miroslav?] Novák could also finish the piece, but BJ would do it more naturally as an organist. As soon as VV gets news from BJ, he informs Charlotte.
