Content and physical description
ContentThey have gone over the score of INVENTIONS several times with great interest. Although they find the piece very interesting and well-composed, they openly say that they do not like it so much as to publish it. They ask him to forgive them their openness in asserting it, but a publishing house must have its own opinion if it is to promote an orchestral work. They are all the more sorry because they really wanted to have one of his new orchestral works. They ask him to let them know when he decides to compose something new. They received the piano reduction of the opera THE PLAYS OF MARY with Czech text, but they were only able to have it for two days, which was not enough for them to get a notion of the work, especially considering that the German text was not enclosed to it. They ask him to send them the work, after the last performance, for a bit longer so that they can get a better idea of it. German or French translation would be highly desirable. They send him back the manuscript of INVENTIONS.
