When it comes to Bohuslav Martinů's piano works, the least attention is paid to tiny, solitary pieces that are not part of any cycle. These include, for example, his until recently completely unknown composition titled Spring, H 127, from April 2021, whose autograph came into the possession of the Bohuslav Martinů Institute in Prague more or less by chance. Just like most of the minor piano works and songs from the time of the composer's youth, it is dedicated to a woman, in this case, "To Miss M. Fialová". As regards its atmosphere, it is very similar to the somewhat older piano cycle Butterflies and Birds of Paradise, H 127, still fully anchored in the realm of Impressionism.
