Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to Charlotte Martinů that he will see her in New York in 10 days. He mentions that they avoided the hurricane and that he visited the Machacek family, where they had good duck and dumplings. Still waiting for news from Rudolf [Firkušný] and [Arthur] Honegger. He wanted to go to AH on Sunday with Frank [Rybka] but FR was not available and it is quite a long way by train. He would like to hear SYMPHONY No. 5, today he sent the score to [Artur] Rodzinski who will play it in Chicago after Ernest [Ansermet]. [Jan] Masaryk is already in the USA for the UN meeting, he is very busy. BM is composing "that thing for oboe" [QUARTET FOR OOBOE, OWLS, VIOLONCELLO AND CLAIR], it's going slowly. He asks ChM if she has seen [Marcelle] de Lacour. It would be nice to have [Trio] Moyse in the US but they are probably on the road somewhere, they had excellent critics in Prague.
