Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů explains to Charlotte Martinů why he visits Church Street. It's because of the noise, plus sometimes Frank [Rybka] calls. He has some news about Jana, but no information about Rudolf [Firkušný]. Apparently he had some kind of accident, no one knows what happened. Maybe he doesn't want it to be talked about. They have no info from [Mark] Bichurin either. BM started to compose a QUARTET FOR OBOY, PIANO, HUSEL AND VIOLONCELLO. Shares news from home, including the assassination of [Jan] Masaryk and the plot against [Edvard] Benes. Expresses concern about the economic situation and rising prices. [Alén] Diviš writes to him often, is angry with [Jan] Zrzavý because of what JZ did to him with the packages. Karel [Novak] sent BM a telegram about orchestral material [SYMPHONY No. 3]. BM is now much calmer even for Charles [Munch]. BM has been to the doctor, everything is fine, only sometimes he feels dizzy. BM asks for details of ChM's arrival.
