ContentBohuslav Šmíd Jr. regrets that he and Zdeněk Zouhar missed each other in Brno. ZZ met BŠ's brother, Ivan, to whom he presented a finished copy of Bohuslav Martinů's piano pieces BOŽÁNKOVI A SONIČCE for BŠ. BS thanks for the copy as well as for the publishing and organizational initiative and professional work. He would be happy if the edition would fulfil its purpose not only as a documentary material, but especially as an easy part that will introduce the composer Bohuslav Martinů to aspiring pianists. He hopes that the sheet music will appeal both in terms of musical content and overall narrative and that children will enjoy returning to it.

He has not yet seen the sheet music, but will pick it up the next time he visits his brother in Brno. ZZ can keep the Xerox copies of the photos he sent. In case their quality is not sufficient for the article ZZ intends, together they would find a way to reproduce them in better quality.

The letter of 3.5 [ZouZ 1992-05-03] is really to be taken by ZZ only as authentic memories and notes by which BS tried to elucidate the origin of the compositions and which cannot capture the depth of the common friendship between BM and his parents. If ZZ needs to add anything else, BS is fully at his disposal.
