Content and physical description
ContentIn a letter to Emil Frank, Václav Talich responds to an insulting article about him, printed on May 21, 1938 in Literární noviny under the title "Quo usque tandem, National Theatre" and signed with the code "Litnov" [most likely Anna Patzaková]. VT defends himself by summarizing his activities at the National Theatre.
Bohuslav Martinů is mentioned together with Leoš Janáček in the place of criticism of the failure of Czech modern works with the Czech audience. VT mentions Martinů's opera JULIETTA, which, according to the author of the article, is "played to half-empty houses, of which hardly any reached the necessary quota, it was played as many times as the subscription system allowed". VT points out that this is not true, because he himself removed the opera from the repertoire, even though it was designed for Saturday subscribers. But he himself is not satisfied with this decision, because he feels it is his duty to promote Czech works in which he believes.
