Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů took advantage of Monique Haas's trip to Bern and entrusted her with the manuscripts of the Double Concerto and the Field Mass. MH will send them to Paul Sacher, it will be faster and safer that way. PS seems to have them now.
As for the other material, there were still problems with the copyist, so BM copied some of it himself. He's sending Sacher what he's done so far - it's almost complete, just the viola and cello parts and half of the other cello part missing. There won't be much more to do with it. It will probably be easier if PS has copies of the remaining parts made by himself so that the matter doesn't drag on any longer. BM apologises, there are few copyists left in Paris and they are very busy. He did what he could himself.
PS has to confirm receipt of the parcel, there are problems with the post office and customs. He also sent him a letter with an article for the programme and a letter to be forwarded by PS to Polička [see Sac 1939-12-12]. He also paid 1187 francs, encloses an invoice and asks PS to keep it. After all, BM hopes that in the future he will find a publisher who will take up the material, so that BM can repay Sacher.
He sends his regards to Conrad Beck.
