Content and physical description
ContentWilli Strecker's last letter to Samuel Dashkin was lost in the Caribbean Sea. In it, WS asked SD to send back the proofs of Martinu's SUITE CONCERTANTE as soon as possible, as he already wanted to reprint the edition. Martinů is getting impatient, as is a mutual friend [Milos] Safranek, who wants to write a biography of Martinů and urgently demands this suite. Šafránek asks whether this suite is identical to the VIOLIN CONCERT, which was lost during the war. WS knows nothing about the violin concert, but suggests that with the many revisions of this work, the suite may once have been planned as a violin concerto.

WS hopes that SD is now in better health and will be able to work on recordings for violin and piano. WS met Erich Itor Kaan and his wife in Baden-Baden for a performance of a chamber work in Schoenberg style, which WS admires greatly.

The contract with AMP [Associated Music Publishers] was finally signed unchanged as they wanted. WS's trip to America will not take place until early next year.
