Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher thanks Bohuslav Martinů for his letter of 24 September, immediately sent an enclosure and wrote to Maria Martinů with news. He is of course willing to be a mediator [between BM and his family], at least as long as circumstances in Switzerland permit. He asks for occasional messages.
If BM cannot find a publisher for the DVOJKONCERT, he is to have the whole material made by a copyist in Paris, PS will pay the cost. Maybe they could have the parts they need photographed more than once. PS would need 5 1st violin parts, 5 2nd violin parts, 4 viola parts, 4 cello parts and 2 double bass parts from each of the two orchestras. Of course he won't have that big of an orchestra, but he wants to have all of these parts so that musicians can study them at home. If it is not possible to produce the material in Paris, BM is to send it to Sacher and he will have it done here [in Switzerland]. But he would prefer Paris: BM would be able to do the proofreading right away and it would also be cheaper. He doesn't think BM can send the manuscript directly, but he can send it to Sacher with the recipient's address and PS will be happy to forward it.
PS and Maja Sacher say hello to BM and Charlotte Martinů.
