Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů returned from Prague via Zurich to France. In Zurich she attended the premiere of Bohuslav Martinů's opera Greek Passions. It was a great success for Zurich and the opera will be performed in the next season. The "Gentlemen of La Scala" hope that the work will also have its premiere in Milan.
It was not so pleasant in Prague. Life there is not very nice except for the music, which is always excellent. All my friends there complain about the lack of fresh vegetables and fruit, and meat has completely disappeared.
She telephoned [Václav Hanno] Jarek, but he doesn't speak anything but Czech, she didn't have time to meet him in person, she had to arrange a lot of things, it's difficult.
She saw [Jaromír and Anna] Špáček. They need a fridge, ChM writes to VV their address. She also met with [Miloš] Šafránek, he is in hospital.
She hopes to be able to meet VV and the family sometime.
Informs of the death of [Ludmila Bertlová] Kubelik.
