Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů regrets that he didn't get to meet Ernst Roth the whole holiday again. BM does not understand what is happening at B&H - those interested in SYMPHONY No. 6 are obviously receiving negative answers from the publisher, while the contract was signed already in 1952 (or 53) and it should be in B&H's interest to have this successful composition on market.
Charles Munch has performed it with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Munich, Paris and several concerts in the USA, but the score is still not on the market. If B&H is not interested, BM wants it back.
ER should inform BM in this matter. There are other compositions that lie uselessly in a B&H drawer.
BM is leaving for Rome next week. He attaches his address.
Transcription of the letter

Sept 24.56.

Dear Ernest:

I am sorry to miss you all the vacation. I do not know what is going with Boosey & Hawkes, some people called me lately (H. Munch from Basel, P. Shermann form Toronto and others) where to get the score of Fantaisies, they received absolutely negative answer from B. &H.

So I do not undesterd any more. Our contract was signer in 1952 or 53, and I think it would be in interest of B. &H. To have this New-York price composition already longtime on the market. Charles Munch gave it now with Boston Symphony in Munich and Paris and several concert in States and there is still not the partition available could you explain me what is the matter? I do not stick usually to the contract, but this piece should have been already published and if B.&H. Is not interested I will take this work back. I am just amazed, they do not have so many compositions who were judged as the best of the year and I do not know what to answer to people who are interested. Please, let me know about it. We have to put an order in, there are other score who just stay in the drawer for B.&H.

I am leaving next week to Rome, my address est:

American Academy.

5. Via Angelo Masina. Roma 28.

With my best regards
