For the year 1920, support was requested from the Josef, Marie and Zdeňka Hlávka Endowment for, among other things, the Czech Philharmonic Society for the popularisation of Czech music and for the Umělecká beseda for the publication of Czech compositions. The annual prizes in the field of music were awarded to Karel Boleslav Jirák (1st prize), Bohuslav Martinů for CZECH RAPSODY (2nd prize worth 800K), and the third prize went to Karel Roob on the basis of a committee consisting of Karel Kovařovic, Josef Suk and Josef Foerster.
