Content and physical description
ContentJindřich Honzl explains the reasons why he did not contact Bohuslav Martinů earlier. He had the letter [proposals for the form of the Theatre Behind the Gate] read to Muzik and Nezval, who did not like commedia dell'arte very much. Perhaps they will meet in Paris - Nezval is going tomorrow with Štýrský and Toyen to see Breton and Eluard. JH was puzzled by the combination of comedy with Czech national song, this type of dramatic work did not find a response in this country. But national / folk song can be combined well with fairground and pantomime. He considers the transformation of pantomime into ballet to be less original. In order to judge the validity of these connections, he would have to know the text and the intention perfectly; after all, he thinks that everything can be connected.
