Content and physical description
ContentVítězslava Kapralová is already healthy. Bohuslav Martinů recommended an excellent syrup to her and the doctor found only slight anaemia. Today she sent them photos from the ball and the Office. She is hesitating about England [a tour with rehearsed choruses of Czech songs]. The Helferts have arrived [It is not clear which Helferts they are. Perhaps Vladimír Helfert and Blažena Helfert, but maybe Renata Helfertová-Trtílková and her husband Josef Trtílek are meant] and so she took care of them in Paris. Yesterday and today she got home only with a pass because her entire street is closed and guarded by the police because of its proximity to the Senate. Yesterday at six o'clock in the evening, however, the ban was broken by the Communists, so she watched everything from the window. It's quiet now, but still BM is worried about getting into some kind of trouble and "would prefer not to let her near the window". She finished [the Partita] yesterday, but BM is still redoing it for her. [Edgar] Hauner has heard from Prague that [Rudolf] Kopec is applying for her, so he telephoned her today with a marriage proposal. However, she refused it, which was approved by BM, who does not wish her to marry. Did they read "the terrible flapping in Rhythm and Smetana about JULIET"?
