Content and physical description
ContentVítězslava Kaprálová learned the news of [Julia] Reisser's death a week ago from Karel Šebánek. He and Bohuslav Martinů spent the whole evening remembering her. The bells [Variations on the Bells of the Church of St-Etienne-du-Mont] are neither French nor impressionistic, but Czech. Again, they wrote it from Melantrich. She will deal with them at BM in Prague, where she is going 'the day after tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow' [to the premiere of JULIETTE on 16 March 1938]. VK would be glad if Václav Kaprál would go to see JULIETTA at the National Theatre. BM is taking care of the extension of her Paris scholarship - yesterday he spoke to [?] Kupka, he will write to [Charles] Munch and [Auguste] Mangeot and to someone in the Ministry in Prague. Miloš Šafránek is also in Prague. He will send the ballad to VíK today or tomorrow. She is now composing a new piece, which she called Miniatures [later Partita], but BM has crossed out the title. Today they are going to the Czech Masaryk celebration [7 March was the 88th anniversary of Tomas Masaryk's birth], where they will sing "Oh Son, Son" and "Flowing Water" in her arrangement; the next day is the French celebration. On Friday, at a meeting of Czechoslovak scholarship holders, she was thanked for promoting Czechoslovakia. From 3 o'clock to 5 o'clock she and BM are instrumenting [presumably Farewell and Scarf]. She sent a letter to Rena [Helfertova-Trtílková] two days before her wedding.
