Content and physical description
ContentCharlotta Martinů apologises to Robert Vannoy for not replying to his letter of 6 June 1967 until now. She had been away for several weeks - at music festivals in Prague [Prague Spring] and Vienna - and so was very busy with the house and garden on her return to Vieux-Moulin. In addition, she started preparing for the second edition of the international performance competition called Janáček-Martinů Concours in Luhačovice. She is returning from Luhačovice via Prague, where she plans to stay for a few more days before returning home.
She enjoyed reading about VR's fondness for Czech and French music and his admiration for Bohuslav Martinů. She is pleased to see how many recordings of Czech music RV has in his collection and how much of it is taken up by BM's music. As for JULIETTA, perhaps RV has the lyrics in English to match the recording.
The Quennehen family that RV is acquainted with are apparently not related to her. ChM's family is from Picardy and she herself was born in Saint-Valery[-sur-Somme]. Though of course they may also be from Picardy.
