Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks J. K. Hanf for his attention. The error regarding BM's nationality has occurred more than once, and so he often has to correct writers that he is not of Romanian origin. Apparently the circle above the "u" in the name leads them to do so. Regarding the criticism, BM feels that it is unnecessary to be concerned about someone who compares a chamber affair with the operas of Giacomo Puccini. BM would be grateful if JKH would send Ricordi a correction about the nationality, noting that a major festival like Baden-Baden should take a closer look. BM thinks the main cause of the misunderstanding is that it is not written about in Czechoslovakia. Yet his works (apart from Leoš Janáček's) are the most honoured abroad. He is not, for example, listed in the compendium of composers that informs foreign countries about CS works. Even at premieres in Prague he was considered a foreigner. At the festival where HALF-TIME was performed he was almost omitted in the overview of our composers. In conclusion, BM thanks again for your interest and asks that you send a correction.
