Content and physical description
ContentKarel Šebánek is glad that František [Martinů] received the money. [Otto] Eckert from the Art Fund promised to provide regular financial support. Among the poets, [František] Hrubín, [Jaroslav] Seifert, [Karel] Koval, [Jiří] Mucha or [Viktor] Kripner are probably the most suitable. Bohuslav Martinů wrote to KS about the completed opera The Lady of the Inn [MIRANDOLINA H 346], which Jiří Pauer promised to include in the programme of the National Theatre next autumn. In the meantime, the score must be brought here [to the CSR] and copies and piano lifts must be obtained. They [Martinů in Polička] should get a copy of HYMN TO ST. James and not give the original to anyone. KS would have it performed in Prague at St. James's. The [Czech Music] Fund will write to BM that he can rely on their support in publishing and acquiring orchestral material. Perhaps BM will be more at ease knowing that KS is taking care of it. [Karel] Balling of OSY told KS that royalties and royalties from BM compositions have been sent to BM in the USA since 1953. The OSA do not have any instructions from BM for money to be paid to the family in Polka.
