Content and physical description

Content	Karel Šebánek encloses a report from the concert featuring the Bohuslav Martinů Piano Quartet. KS is now well again after an injury, when he was at home for 4 weeks. He was repeatedly told by the Ministry that he would be Director of the State Music Publishing House, but KS refused because of the staffing, which does not suit him. The publishing house was ordered by the Ministry of Culture to publish unpublished works immediately and to list all published works. Similarly, theatres, orchestras and radio have been ordered to include suitable works in their programmes. They are afraid of what they have caused by banning BM works from being performed and published. There will again be a need for the materials they have in Polička. But they are certainly not to send anything to anyone without their knowledge. They are not supposed to give the contract to anyone to look at either. The publishing house and OSA lost copies of the contract after he left, so theirs is probably the only one. If any of them go to Prague, they should stop by KS so that they can explain everything. Artia is to publish a list of BM's compositions in English, for which he has lent them a photograph of BM, and [Miloš] Šafránek is writing a foreword. It should come out in March. KS wants to write a letter to BM, so he asks for his address. KS plans to submit a chapter on BM to the music dictionary. Karel Novak told him that BM "carnivalizes" but KS will want a list of songs from him.
