| Content | Attached to the letter is a detailed budget for the production of Bohuslav Martinů's JULIETTE (SNÁŘ). It is being newly studied under the direction of Professor Václav Talich as of 16 March 1938. The total cumulative cost exceeds the limits of the Directorate's own jurisdiction, and therefore requests approval of the cumulative cost, which amounts to 20 708,20,-. The work has 4 paintings and a large number of costumes. Here is a list of the individual items: academic painter František Muzika for the design of the set 2 500,-, academic painter Božena Nevolová for the cooperation 250,-, the making of the sets 6 246,50,-, props 1 070,-, ladies' wardrobe 6 780,50,-, men's wardrobe 3 861,20. The ladies' wardrobe is the largest expense, as the play has a large number of soloists. Because of the special nature of the work, the cost of the sets and props is also higher, as well as the artist's fee. Given the importance of this work of modern original art, it is requested that the requested budget be approved. |
