Content and physical description
Content[Ján Papánek] of the Czechoslovak Information Service writes to the Embassy of the Czechoslovak Republic regarding a contribution to Bohuslav Martinů. He encloses a copy of a telegram [MZV 1944-12-02] dated 2 December 1944, in which Minister [Jan] Masaryk proposes an increase in the monthly allowance for BM. CIS would like to know the opinion of the Embassy. CIS also encloses another copy of a telegram dated 6 December [1944], signed by Ambassador [Jaromir] Smutny, in which there is an order for the payment of $1,000 to BM as a contribution from the President. It is not known to the CIC whether JS acted in concert with JM, i.e. whether BM is to receive, in addition to the one-time contribution, an increase in his monthly allowance, which the CIC pays to him in the amount of $150 per month.
