Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů replies somewhat indignantly to Josef Páleníček's letter. He denies that he does not want to return home. He himself does not know what position he holds at the [Prague] Conservatoire and is not yet fully recovered from his injury. He does not renounce his responsibility towards Czechoslovakia, he just thinks that for the time being he is better off where he is. Especially after the situation in which Václav Talich found himself [accused of collaboration with the Nazis]. VT is of great importance to BM, although the conductor himself may not know it. It is not BM's fault that few of his compositions are performed and published in Bohemia. He sends the PIANO CONCERT [Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 3, H 316] to Melantrich.
