Dear Mr. Stein,



                Owing to a change of secretaries and an overdosis of work I am sorry your letter was not answered before.



                In our programme the dedication of Martinu’s Toccata e due Canzoni figured as follows “Paul Sacher und dem Basler Kammerorchester gewidmet”, whereas Martinu himself wrote into the manuscript “A Paul Sacher et son Kammerorchester de Bâle pour le 20me aniversaire“.



                I sincerely hope that Ben is now soon going to write that Divertimento for us. I deeply regretted that I was unable to come and assist at the first performance of „Billy Budd“ in England.
