ContentBohuslav Martinů had a serious accident and still cannot work. That's also why he didn't write to Georges Neveux. He hopes they are all doing well.
Melantrich will publish a piano excerpt of JULIETTA, which must be released before the May festival [Prague Spring?] Apparently no one asked Neveux for permission. Of course, this is the composer's translation into Czech, not Neveux's French text. Melantrich thought that BM had freely adapted Neveux's book, but he changed almost nothing, so apparently the GN's and his publisher's approval would be needed. BM is asking for it and sends contact details to Melantrich. He asks GN for a timely response.
For performances facilitated by the publication of the piano lift, a contract needs to be made for GN. SACD should be in charge of this. BM and GN will definitely make arrangements.
BM is still thinking of Neveux's "comedie d'Aix" [see letter Nev 1945-08-23], but [GN] apparently no longer.
He [with Charlotte Martin] would like to have news about GN. BM credits his New York address.

Je vous demanderai seulement de préciser dans votre lettre à la Melantrich Company qu´il est bien entendu que le texte ne pourra pas étre publié en brochure séparée, en dehors de la musique. Cela peq [??? illegible] j´ai cédé à un editeur à Prague le droit eternell [??? illegible]'"
