Content and physical description
ContentBärenreiter replies to Dilia's letter of 20 April 1959 concerning their planned contract for Mirandolin. Bärenreiter accepts Dilia's proposal and clarifies some of the wording. They ask that the following paragraph be included and that a signed copy be forwarded to Karl Vötterle in Prague:
Dilia has the rights to MIRANDOLINA for theatrical, radio or television broadcasts within the Czechoslovakia. He will always provide the materials free of charge to Bärenreiter, so that he can make his own copies at his own expense. (Dilia's handwritten note: "If we have only the CSR, we cannot expect revenues that are at all sufficient for amortisation.") Alternatively, Bärenreiter would provide Dilia with printed piano extracts with German-Italian text, at a fifty percent discount from the retail price. (Dilia manuscript note: "60% see agreement of 19 [?] 2. 58.")
Handel's Rodelinde returns the writer to the theme of the Brno theatre. Fritz Oeser had agreed with Dilia in Prague in January this year that she should enter into an operating contract with the Brno Opera Theatre [the State Theatre Brno] on her usual terms and that the payment of royalties should also be governed by her rules. The commission on the material fees received was set at 15 % for Dilia. After a deduction of 20 % for the translators (2 % according to Dilia's accounting), the royalty income was to be divided between Dilia and Bärenreiter in the ratio 4:5. The writer asks for information and for a copy of the contract and accounts, if possible.
As Bärenreiter has already communicated to Dilia through Vítězslav Dam of Artia, the KV would like to have the royalties for Bärenreiter for the Prague performance of MIRANDOLINA ready during his stay [in Prague] from 30 May to 3 June 1959.
