Content and physical description
ContentThe writer acknowledges receipt of the letter of 3 September 1955. Thanks for suggestions regarding the copyright of his translation [of JULIETTA into German]. He agrees to a two per cent gross share and asks for a contract to be drawn up. Authorizes Dilia to exclusively represent his translation for the duration of the copyright. He asks that this solution be included in the contract.
He would also agree to a one-off payment of royalties if necessary. In that case, he would welcome Dilia's proposal.
The writer has a copy of the piano extract with the English text, which was understandably not suitable for the rough German translation. He asks for a copy with only the Czech text so that he can produce a legible, printable clean copy. Alternatively, the translation could be written first as a typescript libretto and the occasional note changes noted separately. However, a new piano transcription would be best.
The writer requests information. Will the addressee ever be in Berlin? It would be advantageous to meet and discuss translation possibilities and tasks. The writer also translates from French and English.
He sends greetings from Fritz Hertel of Ahn & Simrock, with whom he spoke today about the translation under discussion.
