| Content | George H. L. Smith learned from Gertrude Smith of Boosey & Hawkes that she had shown B. Martin's review of the premiere of RHAPSODY-CONCERTA [Feb. 19 and 21, 1953, Cleveland], which was a great success and was superbly acted by Jascha Veissi. GHLS encloses the program booklet for these concerts. Clarence Metcalf, former director of the Cleveland Public Library, told GHLS that BM left with him the manuscript score of CONCERTINA FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA dedicated to Juliette Aranya when he visited Cleveland. The manuscript is now in the above library and CM would like to know if it can remain in the library collection. |

Mr. Bohuslav Martinů
24 West 58th Street
New York, N. Y.
Dear Mr. Martinů:
Miss Smith, of Boosey & Hawkes, writes that she has shown you the reviews of the Rhapsody-Concerto which was very well received by our audience and beautifully played by Mr. Veissi. I am enclosing a copy of our program book for your files.
Mr. Clarence Metcalf, former Director of the Cleveland Public Library, tells me that you left a manuscript score of a piano concerto dedicated to Juliana [sic] Aranyi with him when you visited Cleveland. This score is now in the Cleveland Public Library and Mr. Metcalf is wondering whether it may remain in the permanent collection of the library.
Sincerely yours,
George H. L. Smith
