Content and physical description
ContentRecord of the status of materials for JULIET.
1) Libretto - French text of a play by Georges Neveux, abridged and adapted by Bohuslav Martinů into an opera libretto. Charlotta Martinů sent a copy to Jarmila Burghauser by registered mail on July 28, 1965; it is now missing.
2) Piano extract (made by Karel Šolc) with the beginning of the French translation added. This translation was sent to Dilia from Boosey & Hawkes in January 1965. It was in the possession of Ida de Vries, now missing.
3) Orchestral and vocal material sent back to Dilia from B&H on 18 Jan 1963. Is it in Dilia? Does it contain the French text?
Unless material is found with French text by Bronislaw Horowitz, ChM suggests that a translation of BM, of which only about 30 pages are missing, be completed. This would be inscribed in the piano extract. The work would be undertaken by Eleuthère Lovreglio (who resides in Nice) and Anna Marie Wurm.
