Content and physical description
ContentMiloslav Bureš introduces Zdeněk Zouhar to the birth of the text for THE OPENING OF THE STUDIES and its connection to Bohuslav Martinů's native land. The verses will also be published as a separate collection of poems. Perhaps ZZ will one day read the letters that Martinů wrote to Bures while reading the lyric cycle as he was creating the music. BM wishes to have the world premiere of the work in Polička on the occasion of his 65th birthday. "It is the song of his home."
In transcribing the text, BM rewrote himself in some places, leaving out a few verses in the recitations. [lists mistakes in the text in the score]. Bures will be happy for ZZ to correct these places. They already performed the work yesterday. He is very much looking forward to the performance in Polička. Surely the mature delivery of the reciter will be important. [attached sheet of 'Notes on the score']
