Content and physical description
ContentSamuel Dushkin writes that this is the P.S. to his letter of the morning [see ID 5752]. He has seen Bohuslav Martinů several times, and his concerto is finished [CONCERT FOR HOUSEL AND ORCHESTRA No. 1]. Martinů is now in Prague and showed the score to Prof. Szell, who wanted to see it. SD encloses the postcard BM sent him [not available]. He won't let Szell send the score himself, it is the only copy in existence. He needs to have the piano part as soon as possible so he can "really hear it". The violin part is very brilliant, the 2nd and 3rd movements are very good indeed. He expresses the hope that the patience expended will be worth it. It's not "great music" in his opinion, but a piece of very well done work, the audience may like it.
