ContentThe text is the minutes of a meeting held on 28 May 1954 at the Ministry of Culture. The discussion was about the reply to Bohuslav Martinů's letter sent to the SNKLHU on 14 May 1954. The aim of the meeting was to draft a reciprocal agreement between SNKLHU and Boosey & Hawkes.
The two firms would grant each other publishing rights to selected works by BM [ŠPALÍČEK and JULIETTE], which they represent: the rights of B&H would apply to the area outside Europe and the USSR, those of SNKLHU to the "people's democratic" countries. The publisher of a given work will provide the partner firm with a portion of the publishing shares and rental income. The two publishers will promote the works in their respective territories and provide materials to each other at a reduced price. The contract would be for five years.
A representative of Artie is to make contact with B&H and then notify the Ministry of Culture of their position. SNKLHU is to prepare a detailed draft contract and submit it to the Ministry of Culture. He is also to inform BM of the negotiations with B&H.
