ContentThe publishing house tells Charlotte Martinů the result of its negotiations on the works of Bohuslav Martinů.
They estimate that CZECH MADRIGALS will be a success and would like to publish it. They believe that Charlotte's expectations will not be disappointed. The work would stand out well in their catalogue - the catalogue part is not too extensive and the publishing house can promote the cycle appropriately. Of course, they would also take on partial distribution in Germany, if ChM has already found a suitable foreign publisher.
The publishing house cannot include in the edition all the posthumous works of BM delivered to them by Günther Schneider-Schott. The chances of them being performed in Germany are not so high as to make the publication worthwhile. The writer refers Charlotte to a foreign publisher; due to BM's long-term residence in the United States, he recommends one of the publishers there.
He sends her back the manuscripts of the CONCERT FOR HUSSELS AND PIANO, THUNDERBOLT, PREVIEWS FOR ORCHESTRA, and SHRIEK. The publishers will keep the CZECH MADRIGALS until Charlotte approves their inclusion in the catalogue. They need a readable Czech text to create the edition. The writer asks Charlotte if she could recommend translators into German and English or if singing translations already exist. The publishing house would like to publish the work with the original text [in Czech] as well as German and English translations.
