Content and physical description
ContentThe writer acknowledges receipt of the letter of 12 January 1961 to Charlotte Martinů. He thanks her for entrusting the Schott publishing house with the publication of VIOLONCELL CONCERT No. 2. He himself hopes to be able to meet ChM soon; so far he has spoken to her only by telephone.
From ChM's letter, the writer learned that Frank Rybka had found a young cellist who would pay for an exclusive to perform VIOLONCELL CONCERT No. 2 for three years. He would also take care of the production of the material. This is to be recommended because during the cellist's three-year exclusivity, Schott will not be able to work on the piece. Only then would it be possible to renegotiate the edition. The writer asks Charlotte for her opinion.
The publishers have not received the manuscript of the VIOLONCELLO CONCERTO No. 2; only copies of the orchestral score and piano excerpt were sent to them from AMP.
